The end might finally be in sight. The major building work is complete. The majority of the decorating is done. The bathroom is installed. The new tiles are up.
OK, so there are still a load of little jobs to complete and the small matter of changing goalposts with the building inspecting people meaning that today there are electricians all over the place installing extra smoke detectors, but, if all goes according to plan this time next week we might have just spent the first night in our new bedroom.
Little Miss C has already moved into her new bigger bedroom and is taking great delight in having so much more space for dancing and for all her toys and books. Any fears I had about her being upset about having to leave her old room to make space for the new arrival have now gone and the two nights that she's spent in there so far have passed without incident. I just hope I'm not speaking too soon by saying that!
It does mean that we're currently camping out in the study – a king sized bed wedged in between a couple of desks, a giant book case, piles of clothes and other possessions. It almost feels like being back in a student houseshare where everything ends up in the one room. Only for another week though I hope.
If everything goes according to plan for the next 48 hours then carpets can be laid later this week and Mr C's brother can help him carry some furniture on Sunday and then we're there. There will still be finishing touches to sort, but hopefully that will be all.
And because all that combined with having a baby in about four weeks' time isn't enough, Mr C also leaves his job on Friday of this week before starting a new one at the end of the month. Nothing like having everything happening at once. Finding time to do everything is one thing, but finding time to relax as well is proving a bit of a challenge!

We’ve got that chair. No, not for Ben. Phoebe the cat has sat on one for years and I doubt she’ll surrender it to some young interloper.

They are lovely chairs – LMC particularly likes hers as its next to a big version that mummy sits in!
