Well we've survived what felt like a very long January and with all the snow and cold weather that we've had recently I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only person who is desperate for a bit of a holiday. Thoughts are certainly turning to booking Easter breaks.
2012 was a busy year and so far 2013 is shaping up to be just as busy, but hopefully not so emotional. I've written before about recharging the batteries and that's definitely what we need to do right now. Now that we're a family of four though we need to be practical with our holiday plans. In an ideal world I'm sure that Mr C and I would love to jump on a flight to somewhere exotic. It would be great to show the kids the wonders of the world, but ideally with a nanny with us to help out with some of the travel practicalities and to provide evening baby sitting services. Throw in some first class travel and five star hotels and it would be perfect. As we haven't won the lottery though I think our plans have to be a bit more realistic!
Little Miss C is a very active toddler and any holiday choice has to take this into account. She needs space to run around, ideally a pool to swim and splash in, and some form of entertainment so that mummy and daddy don't take up all their energy entertaining her - otherwise it's not much of a holiday for them. Master C is not quite as complicated, but he too likes to splash about in a swimming pool and he's already very particular about getting his food on time. I've never seen anyone quite so grumpy when a meal is just five minutes late.
For mummy and daddy the chance to see our kids happy and enjoying new experiences is a fantastic feeling. A trip to a spa would also help mummy make sure her batteries are really, really recharged properly too - just to make sure!
So where does this leave us on the holiday front. Well, talking to friends who have been, I think we wouldn't go wrong with a holiday park like Butlins. Plenty of things for the kids to do and I think Little Miss C would love some of the stage shows that they put on. Both the kids enjoy our weekly trips to our new local leisure centre too so the idea of being able to go to the Splash Waterworld every day would be their idea of heaven! Now I just need to go and convince Mr C...
